1. About these terms

These terms apply to everyone who uses kilolita.com ("Kilolita", "the site"). Kilolita is run by the independent operator of Kilolita in Kenya ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. Kilolita is independent

Kilolita is not part of, endorsed by or acting for the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) or any other government body. Nor is it connected to any vehicle maker, importer, dealer or fuel company. Vehicle makes, model names and trade marks belong to their owners. We use them only to say which vehicle a figure is about.

3. Our figures are information, not advice or a promise

• Fuel prices are the maximum pump prices EPRA publishes, copied by us. Stations may charge less. EPRA's own publication is the official source. If ours differs, EPRA's is correct.
• Fuel consumption (km/L) and costs are estimates. They come from figures drivers send us, from official ratings that we adjust, or from calculations, and every page says which. What your vehicle uses depends on its condition, your driving, load, roads and traffic, so your figures will differ.
• The import duty calculator gives an indication only. KRA's assessment decides what you pay.
• Nothing on Kilolita is mechanical, financial, tax or legal advice. Before you buy, sell, import, repair or budget for a vehicle, check with the right professional: a mechanic, a dealer, KRA or an adviser.

4. No guarantee

We work to keep Kilolita accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promise that the site or its figures are complete, correct, current or always online.

5. Limits on our responsibility

As far as the laws of Kenya allow, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that comes from using Kilolita, from not being able to use it, or from relying on anything on it. This includes money spent or not saved, fuel costs, vehicle damage, lost profit or data, and decisions you make. Where the law does not allow us to exclude responsibility, our total liability to you is limited to KSh 5,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that Kenyan law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud.

6. Figures and messages you send us

When you add a fuel figure or send us a message, you confirm it is honest and yours to share. You give us a free, permanent, worldwide licence to use, combine, analyse and publish what you send, so that we can work out and show figures for each vehicle. We publish fuel figures only combined with other drivers' figures, never with your email. We may check, edit, reject or remove anything sent to us. How we handle personal data is in our privacy policy.

7. Using the site fairly

Please do not:

• send figures you know are false, or send them on someone else's behalf to push a vehicle's figure up or down;
• use bots, scripts or other automated means to send figures or messages;
• copy, scrape or download our figures or prices in bulk, or rebuild our database, without our written permission;
• try to get into parts of the site that are not public, test its security, or overload it;
• use the site for anything unlawful, including under Kenya's Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.

We may block access, remove contributions or take other lawful steps if these terms are broken.

8. Our content

The text, figures, design and the database behind Kilolita belong to us or the people who licence them to us. You are welcome to share links to any page, and to quote a few figures with credit and a link to Kilolita. Anything more, such as republishing our tables or datasets, needs our written permission.

9. Links and sponsored content

Kilolita links to other websites, for example EPRA's. We do not control them and are not responsible for them. If we ever show advertising or sponsored content, we label it clearly. Sponsors never decide our figures, and a sponsor is not an endorsement.

10. Changes

We may change Kilolita, pause it, or change these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya decide any dispute about them. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
